Art: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
The word “art” typically reminds us of paintings, music, literature, or dances.
Art is often related to beauty. But as the saying goes “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”, not all art will appeal to everyone — and not everyone will be appealed by art.
However I believe that Art is not just all these.
We as people, are all art
— and art is us.
Art allows us to see beyond the artist into the emotions they wish to express and the causes that they stand for. Art is a peek into one’s heart and soul: shown through colours, words, tones, or facial expressions.
Just like a painting on canvas, we have the ability to pick and choose the materials we want to sculpt ourselves with into the type of person that we want to be.
Like a blank slate, the first touch of the tip of a paint brush is crucial to the painting as a whole. Although we may not always be able to erase the mistakes we made on canvas, we have the ability to add on something to our mistake to incorporate it into our painting. The mistake may be something that we focus on, but the public may only notice the beauty that came from that mistake — not the mistake itself.
We are all different: with our different faces, different build, different traits, different dreams and different walks of life.
Nonetheless, we are all art.
Let us make our time in this life the best art piece we could ever create.
