seemingly, seeking, serenity

: the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled

I have been trying my hardest to find serenity.

To feel calm and at peace,

As though in one fell swoop —

The weight of the world on my shoulders was replaced by feathers, light and pure.

I have been seeking.

Seeking out for the person I actually am,

Distinguishing the golden among the rough —

The traits I should keep and the traits I should let go of.

I have seemingly been doing all these,

But in truth —

I have just been trying.

Trying to keep my head above the crashing waves,

Remaining gentle yet fierce in the face of fire —

Building resilience despite feeling weak.

I have been,

Seemingly, seeking, serenity

And I am still trying, day by day.
