What Does It Mean: Loving Should Be Our Whole Life Goal

“There is nothing braver than to forgive. I want to be able to live a life where I can really forgive myself. Loving myself is finally forgiving myself.”

We often talk about having big dreams: making a name for ourselves, securing a stable job (a bonus if it’s securing a job that we like), founding our own business/platform/passion project.

And it’s okay to dream big. A friend of mine always quipped this quote to me before, “Aim for the moon. So that if you do fall, you will land on the stars.” That quote did make me feel a bit curious if the actual placement of the moon and the stars are as such, was it more of a metaphor…

… but that ramble is besides the point.

We don’t only talk about big plans, we also talk about our backups. What happens if we fail? What’s the second-best I can accept? If I couldn’t obtain this, what should be the minimum acceptable standard I should have of myself?

But instead of all these big dreams, achievements, milestones —

I wanted to talk about loving instead.

Loving ourselves, loving others, loving what we do.

Let’s push aside the expectations of the world and the standards of the world aside for a little while.

What do all these names, fortunes, achievements all mean —

If we are unable to be a decent human being?

Let’s remember to live with love.

In the way we treat ourselves,

In the way we treat others in our lives,

In the way we are passionate about what we do.

Loving should be our whole life goal;

Loving, as the fuel to our dreams, vision, thoughts.

I hope you remember that living your life with love

Is what transforms you;

From being just a human

To one that truly lives.

During one of his ending speeches at their concert, Namjoon shared, “Loving myself is my whole life goal. Let’s all find our way to love ourselves.”

1 John 4:19 reminds us: “We love for He [God] first loved us.”

And we live —

So we love.

What Does It Mean will be a series where I choose a random topic, share my views about the matter, and where I also hope to be able to get your insight and interact more with all of you who may be reading my work!
